About the role

We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of Physics, University of Oxford, for an Apprentice Electrician (electrical installation and maintenance). Responsibilities
  • Maintain and service electrical systems throughout the Physics department.
  • Conduct testing and inspections to ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Rearrange space and objects, including small capital works projects such as strip‑outs, reconfiguring walls and doors, installing new power, lighting, data, chilled‑water plumbing, painting, flooring, and ceilings.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure as part of daily training and on‑site work.
Apprenticeship Details

In partnership with Abingdon and Witney College, the apprenticeship lasts four years and culminates in the Installation and Maintenance Electrician Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) plus a Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification. Training is delivered through a combination of in‑house sessions and distance learning.

About you

  • You can evidence GCSE passes at 9‑5 or A*‑C in Maths and English, which are essential for the apprenticeship.
  • You are ready to commit to a four‑year programme that blends practical training with academic study.
