.
A leading aerospace and defense manufacturer is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the cost accounting system while ensuring compliance with CAS, ASC 606, GAAP, and company policies. This is a high-visibility role with direct influence on financial strategies that support innovative aerospace programs.
What You'll Do- Oversee month-end and quarter-end close processes related to inventory, cost of sales, and revenue recognition, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Supervise and mentor a team of Cost Accountants and Cost Estimators in government cost accounting practices
- Lead preparation and analysis of gross margin reports and conduct inventory audits
- Perform variance analysis to improve financial accuracy
- Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and support internal and external audits
- Recommend process improvements and enhance operational efficiency
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience: 7–10 years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; minimum 5 years in aerospace or government contracting
- Government Cost Accounting: Solid understanding of CAS requirements and government contract cost accounting
- Compliance: Working knowledge of ASC 606, GAAP, SOX, and internal controls
- Systems: Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel
- Skills: Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, clear financial communication, and a process-improvement mindset
- 4/10 schedule — enjoy three-day weekends every week
