About The ProgramThe Department of Anthropology at CSU Channel Islands imparts students with broad anthropological knowledge aimed at developing their critical thinking skills, allowing them to address contemporary issues and engage in multiple professional and academic careers. Anthropology faculty members collaborate with different institutions and agencies in the region including National and State Parks, public schools, and non‑profit organizations, creating diverse learning opportunities for our students.
We are equity‑minded and leverage our small class sizes and focus on experiential learning to ensure student success.
The Department of Anthropology at California State University Channel Islands is seeking qualified applicants for its lecturer faculty pool. Positions may become available to teach undergraduate lecture, laboratory, or field courses in any subfield of anthropology, with particular interest in candidates with expertise in archaeology, bioanthropology, and sociocultural anthropology. Course assignments may include introductory or upper‑division courses depending on program needs.
MinimumDegree Requirements
Master’s degree in Anthropology with demonstrated teaching experience
Required Qualifications- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the college or university level
- Commitment to student‑centered, inclusive pedagogy that supports diverse learners
- Ability to ensure experiential learning opportunities are provided to students both within and outside the classroom.
- Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.
- Ph.D. in Anthropology.
- Experience teaching laboratory or field‑based environmental science courses
- Demonstrated commitment to community engagement, experiential learning, and equity in higher education
- Extensive field experience in anthropological work
- Engagement of students in experiential learning within and outside the classroom.
Lecturer faculty are responsible for preparing course materials, delivering engaging instruction, assessing student learning, and supporting CSUCI’s mission of integrative, experiential, and inclusive education.
