TitleLecturer AY - US History
About the PositionThe History Department seeks qualified part‑time instructors to teach U.S. History to 1877 and U.S. History Since 1877, pending enrollment. The faculty member will be expected to teach across varied modalities, including in‑person and online.
Minimum Degree RequirementsM.A. in History or equivalent/related field
Required Qualifications- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the college or university level
- Appropriate training in United States History to teach undergraduate courses
- Commitment to student‑centered, inclusive pedagogy that supports diverse learners
- Ability to effectively engage a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success
- Evidence of ability to teach in varied teaching modalities (face‑to‑face, online asynchronous, or hybrid asynchronous/in‑person)
- Ph.D. in History or equivalent/related field
Teach assigned classes and carry out related duties, such as holding office hours, grading, planning lessons, and communicating with students outside of scheduled class time.

California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year) Schedules (anticipated hiring ranges)
- Range 2: $5,507‑$6,677
- Range 3: $6,221‑$13,224
- Range 4: $6,825‑$14,523
- Range 5: $8,593‑$15,211
Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. Full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
