Title: Lecturer - Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
About The PositionPlan, develop, and teach prelicensure Nursing Science classes in clinical settings and campus skills labs. Carry out lecturer responsibilities including maintaining accurate student records and clinical grades, coordinating clinical instruction and student experiences with clinical personnel, working with students in the lab and simulation lab, maintaining communication between the University and clinical agencies, participating in annual summation meetings, curriculum development, CCNE and BRN accreditation activities, and remaining current in subject matter and effective instructional techniques.
MinimumDegree Requirements
A Master’s degree in nursing or higher from an accredited institution, including courses in nursing education.
Required Qualifications- Leadership in teaching baccalaureate-level nursing and BRN content, and evaluation of teaching and student learning outcomes.
- Current active California RN license.
- At least one year of experience teaching courses related to psychiatric/mental health nursing or a course that includes practice.
- At least two years of continuous full-time experience in direct patient care as an RN, with at least one year within the last three years, or eligibility for Board of Registered Nurses approval to teach psychiatric/mental health nursing.
- Commitment to working effectively with and engaging a diverse student population, and evidence of mentoring minoritized students, with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.
- Ability to teach psychiatric/mental health nursing across care settings, including acute care, outpatient care, and community.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and flexibility in teaching assignments.
- Experience using multiple teaching modalities in clinical, lab, and simulation settings with a multicultural learner population.
- Willingness to teach on weekends, evenings, and/or nights.
- Teaching and office hours. May include day, evening, night, and weekend classes/clinical labs.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range.
