Student Worker

Student workers perform a variety of routine student services work in support of a college or district program or office. This application pool will be used for assignments at Oxnard College during the 2026 - 2027 academic year. The Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) is a public community college district serving residents throughout Ventura County. VCCCD's three colleges - Moorpark College, Oxnard College, and Ventura College - offer programs for transfer to four-year colleges and universities;

career technical training, basic skills instruction; as well as community service, economic development, and continuing education for cultural growth, life enrichment, and skills improvement.

Duties will be determined based on the needs of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for student employment you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (12 semester units or more) during fall and/or spring semesters. You may be eligible for student employment when enrolled in less than 12 units if you participate in a Federal Work Study, Cal Works, or a Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSP&S) program.
1. Positions that include operating a motor vehicle require a clear California Department of Motor Vehicle record, a valid California driver's license, and are restricted to those 18 years of age and older.
2. Positions that include operating motorized equipment (e.g., maintenance, cafeteria) are restricted to those 18 years of age and older.

Note:

Students will need to provide evidence that they are eligible for employment should they be selected for a position. The required documentation can be found on the third page of the USCIS Form I-9. Students should be prepared to provide the appropriate documentation on or before the first day of work. Classified seasonal employees of the district must have a 6-week break in service before they are eligible for student employment.

01 CA Government Code section 18220 states: "State agencies, when hiring for internships and student assistant positions, shall give preference to a qualified applicant who is, or has been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, a formerly incarcerated youth, or a victim of human trafficking. The preference shall be granted to applicants who are up to 26 years of age."
