Oxnard Union High School District is Ventura County's only all-high-school district, serving more than 15,000 students across diverse communities. The District operates 13 schools, including seven comprehensive high schools, an independent study high school, an adult transition program, an adult education school, an alternative high school, a dual enrollment middle college, and an academy high school of choice. OUHSD is dedicated to providing equitable, rigorous, and engaging learning experiences that prepare students for college, careers, and community leadership.

The District partners closely with families and local organizations to support student success in Oxnard, Camarillo, and Port Hueneme.

Role Description

The Principal is a full-time, on-site leadership role located in Port Hueneme, CA, responsible for the overall management and instructional leadership of a high school campus. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing teaching and learning, guiding curriculum implementation, and supporting educators through coaching, feedback, and professional development. The Principal leads school improvement planning, monitors student achievement data, and implements programs that foster academic success, social-emotional growth, and inclusive school culture.

This role manages campus operations such as scheduling, staff supervision, safety procedures, and compliance with District policies and state regulations. The Principal also builds strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners to promote engagement and support the District's mission.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated instructional leadership skills, including curriculum oversight, data-informed decision-making, and support for diverse learners.
  • Experience in staff supervision and development, including coaching, evaluation, conflict resolution, and team building.
  • Strong organizational and operational management abilities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and campus safety planning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with students, families, educators, and community partners.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices that support students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Relevant administrative experience in K-12 education, preferably at the secondary level.
  • Valid California administrative credential (or eligibility) and appropriate teaching credential.
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to use technology tools and data systems to support instruction, communication, and school management.
  • Knowledge of California education policies, accountability systems, and special programs is beneficial.
