Job Description:
JSL is seeking an Engineering Technician II to support the Command-Wide Engineering Support Services (CESS) Program, with the goal of providing quality systems engineering and technical expertise to aggressively improve Warfighter readiness, as well as to improve and modernize the delivery, quality, and cost of products and services. Port Hueneme Division (PHD) of Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) is responsible for Combat Systems;
Test & Evaluation;
Digital Engineering;
Sensors, Weapons & Launchers;
Modernization & Installation;
Aegis;
Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Cooperative Engagement Capability;
Fire Control System (FCS) MK 92;
Fire Control System MK 99;
Guided Missile Launching System;
Vertical Launch Systems;
Ship Self Defense System (SSDS);
Tomahawk Weapon Control Systems/Suites;
Guns Weapons Systems; and DDG 1000.
- Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment.
- Conducts a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
- Extracts engineering data from various prescribed, but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form.
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required to be considered for this position
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- At least 1 year of work-related experience in electrical/electronic systems or technical engineering support is required.
- Experience reading, interpreting and developing Engineering Drawings/Blueprints and schematics
- Ability to write reports and review/develop technical documentation such as technical manuals as well as installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a variety of personnel at external activities
- Organization and prioritization skills
- Able to use MS Office Software Products such as Word and Excel
- Technical school training or some college-level coursework in engineering, electronics, or relevant technical fields
Applicants must have an active security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a DoD Government- granted security clearance.
