Position Details

Position Type: Part-Time, On-Call, Exempt

Work Location: Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA

Pay: $75/hr - $80/hr

SA-TECH is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense contractor specializing in range operations and maintenance, weapons testing, facilities management, and a growing cybersecurity business. We operate multiple active test and training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy and provide senior‑level services to our DoD partners.

Responsibilities

Primary duties of this position typically include providing expert, senior‑level support in any one of or combination of the following areas:

  • BQM-177 Fleet Support Liaison & Site Operations
    :
    Function as a primary liaison, providing technical and logistical coordination between government and company leadership, and assisting in standing up, outfitting, and supporting dispersed operating sites.
  • Travel & Deployment Support
    :
    Support TPO travel obligations and plan, coordinate, and execute ship suitability tests on naval surface platforms to determine logistical launch and recovery requirements.
  • Depot-Level Repairs & Maintenance Support
    :
    Assist in performing scheduled, unscheduled, and depot‑level repairs on aerial targets at FRCSW and other operating sites using composite and engine‑run repair experience to optimize fleet readiness.
  • Engineering Investigations & Technical Support
    :
    Support engineering investigations to determine root‑cause analyses of failures, utilizing troubleshooting, electrical systems tests, functional tests, and engine runs, and provide expert technical support for new target equipment.
  • Support Equipment Development & Innovation
    :
    Spearhead the design, development, testing, and deployment of unique target support equipment and test fixtures to simplify vehicle turnaround and improve troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Technical Bulletins & Directives Incorporation
    :
    Support operating sites with tracking, oversight, and incorporation of factory bulletins, tech memos, Technical Directives, and Engineering Change Proposals to ensure technical compliance and safety.
  • JDRS, TPDR & PQDR Management
    :
    Oversee and track technical deficiency reports using the Joint Deficiency Reporting System to ensure accurate corrections.
  • Manual Source Data & Publication Review
    :
    Perform comprehensive reviews, verifications, and validations of manual source data and technical publications for existing and new aerial target platforms.

Additional duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Training & Documentation Generation
    :
    Support the generation of maintenance training documentation, including plans, system familiarization guides, and SOPs.
  • Maintenance Training & Subordinate Development
    :
    Support maintenance and technical training at operating sites, and assist in developing and training subordinates, fleet support, junior engineers, or replacements as needed.
  • Warehouse & Inventory Control Support
    :
    Assist with TPO warehouse management, including kit/payload inventory control, material tracking, shipping/receiving, and forecasting requirements.
Work Conditions
  • Conditions will vary; most work performed in enclosed buildings.
  • Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Currently 9/80 work schedule (Mon–Thu 9 hrs, alternating Friday off).
  • Moderate mission‑related travel.
Requirements

Education/Experience/

Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 20+ years of military and DoD aviation experience, including expert‑level technical knowledge of BQM-177, BQM-34, and BQM-74 aerial target systems, in‑service engineering, and depot‑level maintenance.
  • Minimum of 20+ years of experience working with aviation logistics.
  • Expert understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Read and understand schematical drawings.
