The Tooling Engineer 2 (TE2) has an in-depth knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, work holding, and other machine tool specific industrial supplies. The TE2 sees the world through the lens of a customer, both the shop owner/foreman and the front-line machine operator in order to provide superb technical support to clients, whether online, via e-mails, and/or in person. This uniquely broad perspective makes the TE2 invaluable in tooling/work holding product development for Haas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform Sample Review Tests of cutting tools and work holding for form, fit, and function, and thoroughly document it.
• Utilize CAD software to develop 2D blue prints and/or 3D solid models of tooling and work holding.
• Create technical details, such as feed/speed calculators and usage guides.
• Analyze technical material, such as schematic diagrams or engineering drawings, and work with management personnel to develop standards for new product development.
• Create new part numbers and specifications of e-commerce tooling.
• Provide technical support for tooling and work holding to end users.
• Collaborate with marketing, product development, and manufacturing departments to provide product recommendations.
• Keep abreast of developments in the Tooling industry by expanding networks and attending events.
• Prepare or assist in preparing scripts for videos in support of tooling and work holding.
• Develop prototypes and testing of new designs.
• Performs excel and VBA programming tasks as needed.
• Carry out quality assurance tests on new designs.
• Provide training to junior Tooling Engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
• Must be able to operate and program CNC machines;
  Haas most preferred.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of cutting tools and work holding.
• Intermediate knowledge of CNC machine tools.
• Advanced experience using CAD and Solid Works software.
• Intermediate experience using SAP.
• Ability to complete projects on time and to specification.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
• CAM experience that is up to date with current software.
• Intermediate experience with VBA and Python programming.
• Intermediate robotics knowledge.
• Travel up to 5%.

Desired Qualifications

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's Degree BA/BS/BFA/BSA from a four-year college or university is required, plus additional related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred Major:
  Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum Years of

  2-4 years.

  Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations in English. Must be able to write analytical and/or technical reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and create instructional reference material. Able to speak effectively before groups, customers, employees of the organization and/or the general public.
