Overview
City Treasurer's Department seeks a Deputy City Treasurer to support fiscal management and administrative functions. The position is open until filled, with one full‑time vacancy available.
Responsibilities- Provide management, fiscal, and administrative support to the City Treasurer’s Office.
- Conduct comprehensive financial, managerial, and operational analysis.
- Develop recommendations to improve processes, programs, and financial efficiency.
- Lead and participate in projects requiring advanced analytical skills and independent judgment.
- Ensure work activities align with established management objectives and organizational priorities.
- Perform advanced professional financial, managerial, and/or operational analysis work; supervise and oversee paraprofessional and professional staff.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers; conduct research and assessments; provide information, guidance, and materials supporting designated programs; troubleshoot issues and resolve problems.
- Gather information, analyze and compile data, identify requirements and trends, and present findings; prepare, update, and maintain records, reports, and presentations.
- Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned division, program, and/or project budgets and expenditures; provide procurement recommendations and assist in purchase acquisitions.
- Lead in projects that involve comprehensive financial and program analysis, development of policy and project administration, and management of budgets (including monthly GAAP reports, Government Code Section 41004 reports). Provide agenda items for City Council and prepare complex reports.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of journey‑level professional experience in the area of assignment.
- Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships.
The normal work week is Monday‑Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and alternating Fridays, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The position may require additional hours as needed. No overtime pay is available.
Note – At‑Will PositionPer Government Code Section 41007, the Deputy City Treasurer “shall hold office at the pleasure of the city treasurer” and is an at‑will position subject to termination without cause.
