, Information Technology Department is seeking a skilled Solution Developer to integrate vendor applications and automate workflows across city services.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze software needs.
  • Become a subject matter expert on vendor technologies and troubleshoot issues.
  • Build or maintain custom application solutions for secure data transfer across city agencies.
  • Document technical solutions for new and existing applications and translate requirements into infrastructure requests.
  • Ensure seamless integration between legacy systems and new applications using middleware, API gateways, or ETL pipelines.
  • Ensure compliance with CJIS and other regulations to protect public data.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize API integrations between city systems, vendor applications, and legacy databases.
  • Translate business needs into technical workflows and design, plan, and execute action items.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance and scalability.
  • Implement security best practices against common web application vulnerabilities.
  • Leverage automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code following best practices.
  • Maintain clear documentation on system integrations, tech specs, data flow diagrams, and configuration changes.
  • Prioritize work based on business impact, resource constraints, and project schedules.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and workflows.
  • Other responsibilities as required by the role.

The information technology department supports public safety personnel, including the Police Department; applicants must complete a thorough background investigation and a polygraph exam.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Three years of related experience.
    • Proficiency in full‑stack development using Python, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, or similar.
    • Strong scripting skills (Python, Power Shell, Bash) and knowledge of unit testing and deployment.
    • Solid understanding of on‑premise application and database server architecture.
    • Familiarity with ETL tools and data transformation; relational databases.
    • Understanding of business analysis methodologies.
    • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Licensing /

    Certifications:

    None required.
  • Other Requirements: Must communicate in English, orally and in writing.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Local government or public sector experience, especially public safety.
    • Experience with front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue.js).
    • Experience in AI‑Assisted Development and LLMs.
    • API design proficiency.
    • Version control systems like Git.
    • Experience in a hybrid role combining technical and business analysis.
    • Data modeling and design proficiency.
    • Certifications in business analysis or Python development.
    • Experience with cloud‑based applications and enterprise systems.
    • Experience with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Power Apps).
    • Experience with GIS.
