The Janitor will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of communal spaces, restrooms, work spaces, and outside areas as assigned. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing surfaces and floors, removing trash, restocking supplies, and cleaning restrooms.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean spaces, floors, fountains, sinks, kitchens, and coffee areas to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
• Return furniture and items moved during cleaning to their original positions.
• Collect and dispose of waste in designated trash areas and ensure cleanliness and sanitation of waste containers.
• Clean low areas including furniture, partitions, radiators, equipment, railings, and walls up to 7 feet high.
• Perform special cleaning services such as fountains, sinks, counters, and exteriors of food and beverage appliances.
• Move and return rugs and floor coverings during floor care services, minimizing interference with daily operations and ensuring safety.
• Sweep, dust mop, vacuum, spray, buff, damp mop, wax, and scrub floors as needed.
• Service restrooms, laundry, and locker rooms to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and supply stock.
• Clean exterior entrances and paved surfaces, removing debris and spills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Compliance with company policies, OSHA, NEC, and base safety standards.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment.
• Understanding of the Hazardous Materials Information System.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and labels on cleaning chemicals.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of custodial experience in the last three years.
• Overnight stay on San Nicholas Island (3-5 days).
• Ability to travel by air or boat to the island.
• Valid Driver's License compliant with REAL  or willingness to obtain one.
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Dependable attendance and U.S. citizenship for military access.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
• Prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and stooping.
