Position

Summary

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the QA Receiving Supervisor will oversee quality control activities, ensuring tasks are adequately performed to meet food safety and quality standards set by regulatory bodies and customers. They will communicate, collect data, and perform specialized tasks to enhance food safety throughout the facility. The QA Supervisor will also verify compliance with company food safety and hygiene protocols.

Non‑compliances discovered in any of these areas are to be communicated to the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, and/or Quality Manager.

The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of food laws and regulations, advanced risk assessment skills, and be comfortable performing and leading root cause analysis and complaint trend analysis.

Position Responsibilities
  • Inspect the production and packaging processing area in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and the company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform and monitor the completion of datasheets in Red Zone for ingredient inspection.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act, Corporate Policies, and Safety Quality Food (SQF) regulations.
  • Lead pest control activities and fumigation processes.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality, food safety, and safety training under the direction of the QFS Manager.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly workplace inspections and internal audits.
  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel on quality and safety issues and develop best practices in alignment with Corporate Quality and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Review receiving documents such as BOL, trailer inspection, and COAs.
  • Compare microbiological results between received testing results and internal specifications. Analyze test results for precision and accuracy.
  • Understand the requirements for testing protocols for all inbound raw materials.
  • Supervise incoming products and coordinate with warehouse and planning department for inbound sampling testing.
  • Coordinate shelf‑life extension sampling, testing requirements, review of results, and release.
  • Lead allergen management for sampling and storage.
  • Support product traceability and mock recall coordination.
  • Complete SCAR reports when ingredients and packaging materials are non‑conforming.
  • Generate and communicate product safety and quality reports.
  • Assist with annual SQF and customer audits.
  • Investigate process deviations and perform root cause analysis to identify/resolve issues and perform corrective action as needed.
  • Maintain supply inventory and order supplies for the QA department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, food science, chemistry, or related field is preferred.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in the food industry with two (2) years’ supervisory or lead experience is required.
  • Be able to communicate with multiple departments to complete daily tasks.
  • Forklift driving experience for inbound and outbound trucks is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends is required.
