Production Controller
Northrop Grumman is looking for a Production Controller to support our manufacturing planning and production control team. This position will serve on‑site at Deployables Operation Unit in Oxnard, CA.
Responsibilities- Maintains schedules for material requirements and availability for the manufacture of industrial and commercial products to support production control by optimizing inventory storage systems.
- Optimizes inventory storage systems.
- Interfaces with Production, Quality Control, Purchasing, Production Control and other related departments to resolve problems relative to receipt and distribution of material.
- Makes decisions on part categorization, default bin size and location; researches kit shortages, expedites missing kits, and ensures meticulous kit integration.
- Understands, researches, and reconciles traceability; ensures inventory processes comply with quality standards and procedures.
- Participates in 5S and other continuous improvement practices; manages projects using relevant software tools and tracks to meet completion dates.
- Supports the organization's metric goals and objectives; analyzes flow of material to reduce time of request to delivery.
- Handles packing and shipping of outgoing orders via UPS, Fed Ex and various freight carriers; receives and transacts all incoming material in the MRP system; conducts cycle counts to validate quantity, revision levels, stock location, and transfers.
- Expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules; assists in identifying possible and actual shortages and initiates corrective action; uses knowledge of production, procurement, and engineering departments to alert proper authorities regarding potential problems and appropriate remedial action.
- High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.
- Experience with inventory operations within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) (Deltek Costpoint) system and Microsoft applications.
- Capable of using forklift and other inventory related equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Prefer experience with Kiting.
- Liaising between manufacturing & inventorying.
- Excellent verbal and written communication ability.
