Registered Nurse – Wound Care | Oxnard, CA | 13 Weeks Contract

We’re seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Wound Care to join a dedicated healthcare team in Oxnard, CA. If you have specialized wound-care experience and a passion for helping patients achieve better outcomes, this could be your next great assignment.

  • Weekly Pay: $2,730 to $2,930
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments, including wound type, size, depth, drainage, tissue condition, and surrounding skin
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized wound-care plans based on patient needs and provider orders
  • Provide specialized wound care for pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diabetic wounds, venous and arterial ulcers, and other complex wounds
  • Perform wound dressing changes, treatments, packing, irrigation, and other wound-care interventions within scope of practice
  • Monitor wound healing progress and identify signs of infection, deterioration, or complications
  • Communicate significant changes in wound condition to physicians and appropriate members of the healthcare team
  • Assist with wound cultures, specimen collection, and other diagnostic procedures as ordered
  • Educate patients and families on wound care, skin protection, nutrition, pressure injury prevention, and treatment plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, wound-care specialists, dietitians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members
  • Document wound assessments, treatments, patient responses, and progress accurately in the EMR
  • Maintain accurate wound measurements and photographic documentation when required by facility policy
  • Promote pressure injury prevention, repositioning, mobility, and appropriate skin-care practices
  • Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and patient safety standards
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound prevention and patient outcomes
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining dignity and privacy
Qualifications
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Wound Care nursing experience
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification required by facility where applicable
  • Strong knowledge of wound assessment, treatment, prevention, and documentation
  • Experience caring for complex wounds and patients with chronic conditions preferred
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention and pressure injury prevention
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
