Position Summary
The position is a hands-on Chemist II position with an emphasis on performing extractions, developing analytical methods, analyzing organic and inorganic compounds, conducting quality control tests, and operating, calibrating and troubleshooting various analytical equipment all related to the production of biopharmaceutical and filtration products. Responsible for sustaining ISO 17025 accreditation requirements, including trending, proficiency testing, and other compliance activities as required.
Chemist II will also be responsible for conducting research and implementing improvements to products, processes, and equipment.
Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
This position may have supervisory responsibility depending on experience. Will mentor and train Lab Technician's, Scientists, Chemists, and peers when it comes to chemistry and GLP subject matter.
Responsibilities
* Develop analytical methods for optimizing the separation, identification and quantification of organic compounds using LC-QTOF/DAD/MS and GC-MS. Validate method performance.
* Develop analytical methods for optimizing the separation, identification and quantification of inorganic compounds using ICP-MS/OES. Validate method performance.
* Acts as a subject matter expert to provide hands on research and development in the area of sensing devices, filters, lab systems, and other single use devices.
* Troubleshoot raw materials, internal and external customer requests, and support the growth of sales by providing timely results using Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) in the Division.
* Provide hands-on scientific and analytical approaches to product development.
* Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and analyze data using various analytical test equipment such as GC-MS, LC-QTOF/DAD/MS, ICP-MS/OES, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.
* Summarize information into laboratory reports using Good Document Practices (GDP) for customer-facing applications, product validations, and support of internal production protocols.
* Facilitates with vendors to manage equipment calibrations, preventative maintenance and other sustaining activities such as ordering supplies for the laboratory.
Qualifications
* A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Polymer Science or Materials Technology is necessary to be considered. Master's or PhD preferred.
* At least 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience is preferred, especially in the areas of analytical analysis of organic and inorganic compounds, method development on chromatography instrumentation, research and development, GDP/GLP/GMP, troubleshooting of products, processes, and equipment.
* Ability to provide hands-on technical leadership with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work as a team member in a laboratory environment with flexibility to work on a highly diverse range of assignments and prioritize as required by the business objective.
* Ability to be self-managing and task focused.
* Highly motivated and results oriented.
* Ability to communicate effectively with peers, management, suppliers and customers.
