Brief Description

Ormond Beach Generation Station is an operating power facility with a generation capacity of at least 1,500 megawatts (MW). The station plays a critical role in supporting California’s energy grid, utilizing a variety of high-pressure steam and turbine systems to deliver reliable power to the region.

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Maintenance Mechanic to support the operation and reliability of our mechanical systems and power generation equipment. In this role, you will install, inspect, maintain, and repair plant equipment including turbines, pumps, boilers, and associated piping and systems.

This position requires advanced mechanical knowledge, fabrication skills, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces and at elevations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, inspect, and repair plant equipment (e.g., turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers).
  • Diagnose and correct mechanical issues on rotating and stationary equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including PdM activities.
  • Fabricate tools, fixtures, and plant components as needed.
  • Operate machining tools such as drill presses, lathes, and boring mills.
  • Conduct pipe fitting, rigging, valve packing, insulation removal / replacement, and plumbing tasks.
  • Complete required documentation for maintenance tasks and equipment status.
  • Ensure safe work practices and adherence to environmental regulations.
  • Provide guidance and skill enhancement support to less experienced personnel.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience—preferably in a power plant or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficient with rigging, machining, and mechanical diagnostics.
  • Experience with welding and machine tools preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment, PdM, and root cause analysis techniques.
Physical Requirements
  • Exposure to varied outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, hazardous areas, and diverse work surfaces.
  • Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high‑voltage protective gear.
  • Working near high‑voltage equipment and operating heavy machinery, with proper training and safety protocols.
  • Entry into confined spaces and potentially hazardous environments, often accompanied by exposure to loud machinery and equipment.
  • Physical activities including walking, standing for extended periods, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs.
  • Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
  • Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Participation in a post‑offer physical examination and drug screening, as well as ongoing random drug testing.
  • Compliance with strict smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
  • Shift work with irregular hours, 24/7 on‑call support may be required.
Summary

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
