Job Description

The Leidos Security and Engineering Programs (SEP) is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Center for Information Systems Security (CISS) program in Washington DC. This position requires flexible work hours (Monday‑Friday, 2:00 PM‑10:30 PM) and occasional travel to Chantilly, VA (under 25%).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Integrate new COTS/GOTS systems (network equipment, servers, workstations, etc.) into the production environment and ensure mission readiness.
  • Manage change controls for documentation within an IT Service Management Tool (ITSM) and Configuration Management database (CMDB), and perform corrective action on discrepancies or findings.
  • Develop technical solutions and resolve complex issues involving users, computers, servers, networks, appliances, and applications; record, manage, and update solutions in a knowledge database and ticketing system.
  • Review data from a DoD Network Monitoring System, audit systems proactively to ensure program requirements are met, and assess and remediate risks and incidents.
  • Serve as an expert within the area of responsibility after training on program‑specific equipment, analyse issues, make remediation recommendations to management, and carry out remediation processes.
  • Create technical documentation (SOPs, KBAs, etc.) to reduce escalation for junior staff.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or MS/MA with 6+ years of relevant experience; a high school diploma with an additional 2 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Interim Top‑Secret clearance required with ability to obtain Final Top‑Secret.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration tools: WSUS, Group Policy, Active Directory, RDP, DNS, DHCP.
  • Mid‑to‑high‑level RHEL troubleshooting.
  • Low‑to‑mid‑level Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022/2025 troubleshooting.
  • GOTS/COTS application, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Industrial computer and Dell systems installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Tier 3 Systems Administrator support.
  • Proactive leadership and team‑player mindset with strong communication, management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • AWS virtualization, networking configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Docker configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Database installation, configuration, and troubleshooting (Postgre

    SQL, Maria

    DB, etc.).
Additional Qualifications
  • Lifecycle management experience (PC Imaging & Disposition).
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools such as OpManager, Solar Winds, PRTG.
  • Service Now On‑Premise application and database server experience.
  • Experience with virtualization.
  • Infrastructure equipment troubleshooting (e.g., UPS, fiber/ethernet installation/termination, electronic testing and metering equipment).
  • Ticket tracking system experience (Remedy, Service

    NOW, SharePoint).
  • Prior experience in a Network Operations Center environment or Tier 3 Helpdesk.
  • Basic Juniper and Palo Alto Tier 1 troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with command‑line interfaces (CMD, Terminal, Power Shell, etc.).
