AV Technician
We are seeking a personable and creative AV Technician to support a mission-driven program focused on national public alert and warning systems. This role is responsible for the technical operation of live and pre-recorded engagements, content creation, and the maintenance of audio-visual equipment. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player, passionate about AV technology and content creation, who can transform ideas into reality and collaborate effectively with team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor broadcast and AV equipment, including cameras, audio mixers, video switchers, and Crestron control systems.
- Create content including video clips, podcasts, and training materials.
- Set up, configure, and operate equipment for live broadcasts, recordings, and events.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of AV equipment.
- Collaborate with analysts and technical experts to build and refine content.
- Provide technical support during live events, resolving issues in real-time.
- Stay current with emerging broadcast and AV technologies and industry trends.
- Support the enhancement of emergency communication services for the public.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in broadcast operations or audio-visual technology.
- OR Associate's degree and 5+ years of experience in broadcast operations or audio-visual technology.
- OR 10+ years of relevant experience with no degree.
Technical
Skills:
- Experience with AV control systems, specifically Crestron, is required.
- Proficiency in operating broadcast equipment, including cameras, audio mixers, and video switchers.
- Strong understanding of audio and video production techniques, cabling, and signal distribution.
- Experience with live event production, remote AV support, and live streaming technologies.
- Familiarity with presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Keynote.
Clearance:
- Ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Broadcast experience is desired.
- Certification in broadcast or audio-visual technology (e.g., CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I).
- Experience with non-linear editing systems (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Proficiency in using 2D or 3D design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio).
Work Environment
- This position is fully onsite at National Harbor, MD, with some flexibility for telework.
- Travel up to 20% may be required for work-related functions.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 annually.
