Position Overview

Construction Superintendent – Full‑Time – Healtheon, Ft Rucker, AL.

Position Description

Supervises the field construction of a project, including its organization, planning, and scheduling, to complete the work on time, within budget, and to quality specified. Superintendents are critical to the success of the project team and are directly responsible for the supervision, coordination, scheduling, and control of all field activities of subcontractors and suppliers. They protect and promote the interest of the company in all matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Primary liaison with owners/architects/engineers for day‑to‑day construction activities.
  • Develop and implement overall project work schedules, identify the critical path, and expedite scheduled critical materials and equipment for timely delivery to site.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop all company field staff, including input on performance appraisals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.
  • Assist Project Manager and Project Engineer in securing equipment guarantees, warranties, and service/maintenance agreements.
  • Inform Project Manager/Engineer of changes in the field so changes may be covered by change orders.
  • Keep detailed daily records of subcontractor work progress for monthly billing reviews.
  • Assist Site Safety and Health Officer in developing and managing the overall site safety program and ensuring subcontractor compliance with Healtheon standards and applicable safety codes.
  • Manage and make decisions related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade staffing levels.
  • Oversee work among all trades to promote coordinated project operation and resolve local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, labor, equipment, schedule, and other matters.
  • Manage labor relations with subcontractors and Healtheon staff.
  • Implement inspections, testing, review, and approval.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and insurance are in place, acting as liaison to inspection agencies.
  • Manage General Conditions and General Requirements to maintain budget.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to manage billing process, including monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Ensure work is installed in compliance with and conforms to approved contract documents.
  • Supervise all subcontractors on site.
  • Attend pre‑construction meetings and weekly progress meetings with client, architect, engineers, and project team.
  • Minimize delays through collaboration with Project Manager at onset of construction.
  • Maintain good relationship and open communication with client and project team.
  • Provide accurate documentation of daily job reports, safety reports, 3‑week look‑ahead, and incident/accident reports.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility for labor and other expenses while proactively streamlining tasks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four years of related training and at least eight years of building construction experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of general and subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, construction means, methods, materials and survey methods.
  • Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of Primavera scheduling desirable.
  • Knowledge of CMiC project management software desirable.
  • Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Will be subject to security clearance.
