Job Description

Personal Financial Counselor – Fort Rucker, Alabama (Job Code: Social Worker). This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations, delivering a full breadth of counseling to service members and their families.

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinate and publicize a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering the military lifecycle.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes (web‑based chat, video‑teleconference) as authorized.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues.
• Participate in in‑services, training, quality improvement committees or other contract activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree required (Associate degree + 4 years experience, or High School diploma + 6 years experience may be considered).
• Minimum 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 per year (based on current national data). The position may also be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, voluntary and other benefits.
