Location: The Department of Social Services Children’s Division is seeking a worker based in Christian County.

The primary function of this role would be to assist the Alternative Care staff with scheduling meetings, transportation and supervision of visits, requesting and uploading documents and taking notes in meetings.

This position is an hourly position, up to 20 hours per week. Preferred applicant has case management experience in Child Welfare.

The Department of Social Services partners with families and communities to protect children, rehabilitate youth and move families to self-sufficiency so that Missourians can lead safe, healthy and productive lives.

The Department of Social Services – Children’s Division cares for at-risk children and families by providing family preservation and reunification services, investigating allegations of abuse and neglect, and conducting foster care and adoption case management.

These positions would support critical functions including completing hotlines and referrals, providing nights and weekends on call coverage, and assisting with NMI’s. The staff would also help supervises parent/child visits, including transportation when needed.

Additional responsibilities would include uploading documentation into OnBase, ordering medical records, preparing monthly contact reports, completing collateral contracts, assisting with monthly home visits, and providing guidance to families related to parenting, budgeting, and household structure, etc.

This is a hourly, temporary, non-benefited position.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or High School Equivalent; and Four or more years of professional experience with a public or private agency in the delivery of protective services and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college university and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license. (A combination of earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in the preferred fields such as social work, family and child development, special education, psychology, sociology, or related behavioral sciences and experience described may substitute for the stated qualifications.

30 credit hours are equivalent to 1 year of experience. Professional experience as described must be of a substantial period of time (over 50% of time)). (Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Must be able to type accurately (preferred 30 words per minute)
  • Possess the ability to learn the unique computer software necessary for the job
