Provide transportation for various recreational programs, including our after-school program and “On the Road Again” senior day trip programs. All routes will have staff chaperones present, so the driver’s main purpose is solely transportation. This position can be considered a success if participants are safely and happily transported to and from their destinations.

Essential Functions
  • Drives a park transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with department schedules, picking up and discharging participants at their destinations.
  • Transports students and staff on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
  • Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
  • Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary, reports tires and battery issues.
  • Maintains cleanliness of exterior and interior of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition
  • Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts
  • Maintain a safe environment for the children by attending scheduled shifts, finding coverage when needed, and being punctual.
  • Attend staff meetings and training.
  • Responsible for strict adherence to policies and procedures related to safety and other regulations, including confidentiality with respect to other staff, children, and City of Ozark matters.
  • Communicate any issues as they arise with the Recreation Assistant or Recreation Supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Abilities

Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to drive a passenger bus safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain focus in highly stimulating situations while driving.
  • Positive, upbeat, and dynamic personalities are advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills are critical.
Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to safely operate a commercial vehicle and meet the State of Missouri’s requirements for licensed CDL drivers. Must be able to sit for long periods of time; must be able to operate in conditions without climate control; must be able to demonstrate appropriate skills.

Subject to the City of Ozark drug and alcohol prevention and abuse ordinances.

  • Must possess their Missouri Commercial Driver’s License Class B or above, or equivalent certifications with passenger endorsement.
  • Must be able to pass a background check with the State of Missouri Family Care and Safety Registry, as well as a Comprehensive Criminal Background Check through the State of Missouri.
