Farm Mechanic

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dependable Farm Mechanic to ensure the optimal functioning of their agricultural machinery and equipment in Paarl . This role is critical for maintaining the operational efficiency of the farm, requiring proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a wide range of farm equipment, including tractors, harvesters, and implements. You will perform both routine maintenance and emergency repairs, ensuring minimal downtime and maximizing productivity.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to keeping farm operations running smoothly.

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing of tractors, harvesters, and other farm machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in farm equipment.
• Repair and replace worn or faulty parts and components.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
• Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and manage workshop supplies.
• Ensure all safety standards are met during repair and maintenance activities.

• Trade qualification as a mechanic (e.g., diesel mechanic, agricultural mechanic).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in servicing and repairing heavy machinery, preferably agricultural equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
