Telecommunications Installation Technician

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Installation Technician to join their dynamic team in Paarl. This role is essential for the deployment and maintenance of communication infrastructure, including data networks, voice systems, and related equipment. You will be responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting a variety of telecommunications systems at client sites, ensuring reliable connectivity. This hybrid role involves both on-site installation work and potential for remote system checks or support, offering a varied and engaging work experience.

The ideal candidate is adept at working with low-voltage systems and possesses excellent problem-solving skills.

• Install, terminate, and test network cabling (e.g., Ethernet, fiber optic) and associated hardware.
• Set up and configure telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, VoIP phones, and access points.
• Perform site surveys and assessments to plan and design installation layouts.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, system malfunctions, and performance problems.
• Ensure all installations are completed according to industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installed systems, network configurations, and testing results.

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Installation Technician or in a related field (e.g., Network Cabling, IT Support).
• Strong understanding of networking principles, low-voltage cabling standards, and telecommunications equipment.
• Proficiency in using testing equipment such as cable testers, network analyzers, and OTDRs.
• Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various client locations in and around Paarl.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
