Position Summary
Under the leadership of the department director, the Assistant Director collaborates with the Director of Surgical Services to plan, set goals, develop department budgets, and coordinate supplies/equipment, staffing, and patient care to carry out the department’s responsibilities efficiently and effectively in support of Community Hospital’s strategic plan.
The Assistant Director is responsible for supervising the department’s daily operations, serving as a resource and role model for staff to resolve issues related to patient care, service delivery, safety, supplies, equipment, computer software, and customer concerns.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily operations and provide guidance to staff for problem resolution.
- Ensure staff receive appropriate orientation, training, and maintain competence for the care and services provided, adhering to Montage Health Values and professional conduct standards.
- Provide supportive training, coaching, performance evaluation, enforce policies and procedures, and take corrective action as necessary.
- Support quality performance initiatives by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, collecting and analyzing quality data, assisting with future targets and initiatives, and updating department policies and procedures.
- Support financial viability by monitoring expenses, revenue, utilization, and productivity in assigned cost centers, and execute Lean concepts.
- Collaborate with other departments and the Nursing Leadership Team to achieve system efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Minimum five years current experience as a perioperative RN in PACU and/or the pre-operative area in an acute care hospital.
- Proficiency in formulating individual perioperative treatment plans and providing skilled pre‑ and post‑operative care.
- Ability to direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care provided by staff.
- Previous Charge RN or related management experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; BSN/MSN preferred.
- Must pass orientation and annual competency assessment, holding a valid State of California RN license.
- American Heart Association BLS, ACLS certifications required; CPAN or CAPA preferred within 18 months of hire.
