Work Schedule
- Standard 40-hour work week consisting of five consecutive 8-hour shifts (excluding lunch)
- Must be available for overtime and 24-hour emergency call-outs when required
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Utility Worker to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems and utility infrastructure. This role involves field work, equipment operation, excavation, water line maintenance, and general utility operations while ensuring safety and service reliability.
Key Responsibilities Utility Operations- Prepare work sites by setting up barricades, fencing, traffic cones, and other safety equipment
- Load, unload, and transport pipes, fittings, tools, and construction materials
- Excavate trenches using hand tools and approved methods based on site conditions
- Install, repair, and maintain water mains, service lines, pipes, fittings, and valves
- Backfill and compact trenches after repairs or installations
- Assist with concrete work, utility tie-ins, and pavement restoration as needed
- Repair water main breaks, leaks, and damaged infrastructure
- Maintain and repair fire hydrants, valves, pumps, storage tanks, pipelines, and related plant equipment
- Perform data entry and update work records using company systems and mobile devices
- Complete additional utility maintenance and field operations as assigned
- Safely operate trucks, forklifts, loaders, water pumps, air compressors, cement mixers, and other utility equipment
- Utilize tablets, iPads, computers, and Map Call software to document work activities
- Follow all company safety policies and traffic control procedures
- Serve as a flagger to direct traffic around active work zones when required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Knowledge of basic utility equipment, tools, and construction materials
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform physically demanding work
- Basic computer and database skills
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
- Valid California Driver's License required
- California Class B or Class A CDL required
- Must obtain a California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Distribution Operator Grade 1 Certification within one year of employment and maintain certification throughout employment

- Shovels, picks, digging bars, cement saws, clay spades, wrenches, and other hand tools
