One Source Employment Solutions | Full time

Pacific Grove, United States | Posted on 08/31/2026

One Source Employment Solutions is hiring three experienced Carpenters for a unique restoration project at the historic Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, California.

This is an opportunity to work on some of California’s most distinctive historic architecture while helping preserve buildings that have stood for more than a century.

We are looking for skilled carpenters who take pride in craftsmanship, pay close attention to detail, and are comfortable working carefully around historic building materials and existing architectural features.

What You’ll Do

Carpenters will perform a variety of restoration, repair, and general carpentry work on historic buildings throughout the Asilomar property.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Repairing and restoring existing wood building components
  • Performing finish and general carpentry
  • Repairing or replacing damaged wood while maintaining the appearance of existing structures
  • Working on doors, windows, trim, siding, framing, railings, and other architectural wood elements
  • Measuring, cutting, fitting, assembling, and installing wood materials
  • Removing deteriorated materials carefully to protect surrounding historic components
  • Matching new repairs to existing construction whenever possible
  • Using hand tools and power tools safely and accurately
  • Following project plans, instructions, and historic-preservation requirements
  • Working collaboratively with supervisors, preservation staff, and other trades
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Following all jobsite and OSHA safety requirements
What Were Looking For

Required:
  • Professional carpentry experience
  • Strong knowledge of standard carpentry tools, materials, and techniques
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and install materials
  • Experience using common hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to detail and workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and jobsite safety procedures
  • Reliable transportation to Pacific Grove, CA
  • Dependable attendance and professional conduct
Preferred Experience:
  • Historic restoration or preservation
  • Wood repair and restoration
  • Window and door restoration
  • Exterior siding and trim
  • Custom or architectural woodworking
  • Older residential, commercial, or institutional buildings

Historic-preservation experience is a plus, but experienced carpenters with strong craftsmanship and an interest in restoration work are encouraged to apply.

Why This Project Is Different

This is not a typical new-construction carpentry assignment.

The work involves maintaining and restoring historically significant buildings where craftsmanship, patience, accuracy, and respect for the original construction are essential.

For a carpenter who enjoys working with their hands and wants to be part of a project they can be proud of, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to the preservation of one of California's most recognizable historic properties.

Compensation:

$35.00–$45.00 per hour

Final pay rate will be based on the candidates carpentry experience, restoration experience, and overall qualifications.

Please include any experience you have with:

  • Historic restoration
  • Doors and windows
  • Trim and millwork
  • Older or historic buildings

Qualified candidates will be contacted by a One Source recruiter to discuss the project and next steps.

One Source Employment Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
