What You Should KnowSHOE SHOW, INC., the nations largest privately held footwear retailer with nearly 1,000 stores in 47 states, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support payroll related accounting, reconciliations, and financial accuracy. This is an entry-level, accounting-focused opportunity, but does not actually process payroll. The position is located onsite in the corporate headquarters in Concord, N.C. Interest in payroll accounting or benefits reconciliation.

Reconcile payroll related accounts to the general ledger and resolve variances.
Assist with payroll related journal entries, accruals, and reclasses.
Analyze payroll expenses, taxes, deductions, and liability balances.
Support benefit deduction reconciliations, vendor invoice review, and discrepancy research.
Coordinate and reconcile 401(k) funding and documentation.
Assist with bank reconciliations for payroll related accounts.
Support escheatment activities for outstanding checks.
Assist with month end, quarter end, and year end close.
Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Review payroll reports/interfaces to ensure accurate financial system results.
Maintain documentation of reconciliation processes and internal controls.
Assist with testing/validation for payroll, HRIS, benefits, or ERP changes.
Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll, benefit, and financial information.
- Associate or Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of accounting, finance, banking, or payroll support experience.
- Experience with UKG, Ulti Pro, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial recordkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Experience with account or bank reconciliations preferred.
- Exposure to ERP, payroll, or HRIS systems preferred.
- Interest in payroll accounting or benefits reconciliation preferred.
