Loe 21st Century Certified Tutor Summer

Basic Function:

Assist in the implementation of education programs by providing academic tutoring to students.

Representative Duties:

  • Provide appropriate learning materials and experience for participants.
  • Assist students in small group or one-on-one sessions to enhance their education and provide support in achieving learning objectives set by the school.
  • Assess the students' progress throughout tutoring sessions and adjust instructional methods and content focus as necessary.
  • Provide adult supports, activities, and sessions.
  • Participate in tutor training and development sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide data to appropriate personnel.
  • Treat all individuals with fairness, dignity, and respect.
  • Adhere to SBDM and McCracken County Public School Board policies and procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Maintain a professional and appropriate appearance.
  • Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Basic instructional methods and techniques.
  • Basic learning theory applicable to the student group served.
  • Students with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
  • Basic subjects taught in District schools including arithmetic, reading, writing, grammar, and spelling.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct.
  • Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.
  • Applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws.
  • Health and safety regulations.

Ability to:

  • Provide instruction working with children with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to (Continued):

  • Maintain routine records.
  • Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Plan and organize work.

Education and Experience:

Certified:
Valid Kentucky teaching certificate
