Job Description

Reidland Middle and Intermediate Schools are seeking a creative, energetic, and student‑centered Art Teacher for our intermediate and middle school learners. This role is for someone who loves kids, is passionate about art, and inspires students to express themselves through creativity and imagination. The ideal candidate enjoys building positive relationships, encouraging artistic growth, and creating a fun, engaging classroom environment.

Primary Function: To educate all students substantially and effectively by:

  • Demonstrating professional leadership, assessing, and communicating learning results.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of content, reflecting, and evaluating teaching/learning.
  • Designing and planning instruction; collaborating with colleagues, parents, and others.
  • Creating and maintaining a learning climate; engaging in professional development.
  • Implementing and managing instruction; demonstrating implementation of technology.

Basic Representative Duties /

Essential Functions:

  • Implement all rules, regulations, policies, and administrative guidelines adopted by the Board of Education and the School SBDM Council.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, pertaining to teachers and students.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives and assessments for all lessons and units, and communicate these objectives to students.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
  • Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request from immediate superior.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Strive to improve professional competence and collaborate with colleagues and communities.
  • Attend staff meetings, serve on staff committees, and perform duties prescribed by the principal and by Board of Education and School SBDM Policies.
  • Promote positive public relations for the school’s programs and activities.
  • Contact the principal or the designated representative as soon as possible when the teacher must be absent.
  • Remain at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or designated representative.
  • Maintain a professional appearance as an example for students.
  • Incorporate the use of technology in daily tasks.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics.

Education and Experience:

  • Valid state teaching certificate for specific subject area and/or grade level.

Terms of Employment: 185 days; salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

Position Type: Full‑time

Salary: $44,895 per year
