About the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering currently has 44 faculty members and an enrollment of about 1900 undergraduate and 260 graduate students. The Department offers ABET accredited B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering; M.S., Master of Engineering, and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Materials Science and Engineering. The Department has research focus areas in Advanced Manufacturing, Advanced Materials, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanics, Vibrations & Acoustics, Robotics & Controls, Thermal-Fluids & Energy.

Overview

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for multiple full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the Mechanical Engineering Program.

Candidates in two broad areas in mechanical engineering will be considered: (1) Mechanics –experimental, theoretical, and/or computational mechanics. Areas of interest include but are not limited to fracture, in elasticity, energy materials, soft materials, and bio-mechanics. (2) Vibrations and Acoustics – areas of interest include smart materials and structures, vibration and noise control, metamaterials, nonlinear dynamics, rotor dynamics, MEMS/NEMS, structural health monitoring, and biomedical acoustics.
