We are seeking a Controller with a solid background in the construction industry to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience with WIP reporting in the construction industry, along with leadership skills.
Responsibilities- Own the preparation of recurring financial reports and support periodic tax filings and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting activity including ledger maintenance, collections tracking, and outgoing payments.
- Partner cross‑functionally to track project‑based financials and support close cycles with accurate cost and revenue recognition.
- Lead the close process end‑to‑end, ensuring alignment with standard accounting practices and internal governance.
- Act as a point of contact for audit‑related requests and documentation.
- Manage and mentor a small team, providing guidance, oversight, and performance feedback.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, including related reporting.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts, identifying trends and explaining financial performance to stakeholders.
- Support ad hoc financial and operational initiatives as needed.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 3 years of team leadership.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
- Experience with WIP reporting in the construction industry is required.
- Strong Excel capabilities and comfort working within accounting/ERP systems.
- Exposure to mid‑market accounting platforms or similar tools is a plus.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
- Union experience is a plus.
