General Summary/Purpose

The Credit Administration Specialist is responsible for supporting the Bank's credit risk management through appraisal review, real estate evaluations, commercial and construction loan administration, and regulatory reporting. This role ensures compliance with appraisal regulations and credit policy, facilitates accurate and timely construction loan processing, and provides critical data analysis and reporting to the Credit Administration Manager. The position exists to safeguard the Bank against collateral risk, support sound lending decisions, and maintain regulatory compliance across the loan portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • #1 Appraisal Review/Real Estate Evaluations/Administration
    • review appraisals for appropriateness and accuracy
    • correspond with internal and external staff in discrepancy resolution
    • complete real estate evaluations to support loan documentation
    • working knowledge of loan policy and appraisal regulations
    • Administer the Commercial Appraisal process, which includes ordering and reviewing appraisals as required under regulatory appraisal guidelines and maintaining the proper documentation of approved appraisers and attorneys
  • #2 Reporting to Credit Administration Manager
    • extract data from core system
    • verify reports for accuracy and notify the party responsible for error correction
    • create and maintain templates for information
    • submit reports to Credit Administration Officer for Review
    • knowledge of regulatory reporting and guidelines
    • Work with Credit Administration Manager to streamline reporting
  • #3 Commercial and Construction Loan Administration
    • Work with the lending staff and clients to approve all construction budgets, discuss potential construction loan projects prior to documentation and closing.
    • Review construction loan documents prior to closing to ensure that the borrower’s equity injection requirements are properly reflected and understood by all parties prior to beginning construction.
    • Review and approve draw requests, matching invoices to budget categories; notify the RM, client and contractor if there are issues or concerns regarding the draw.
    • Monitor budget line items for completion % and potential overages throughout the life of the loan; notify the RM, client and contractor if t
    • Frequently communicate with and maintain positive working relationships with general contractors on projects to stay current on any potential issues.
    • Order construction inspections directly from appraisers/inspectors in compliance with credit policy and/or the credit approval documents and proactively identify any areas of concern for the inspector to review during their visit.
    • Responsible for imaging all construction draws
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the rules, procedures, and requirements for special loan programs such as the Kentucky Collateral Support Program (KYCSP) and the Kentucky Loan Participation Program (KYLPP).
    • Understand the distinctions between various SBA loan types and the requirements for each.
    • Maintain current knowledge of updates to SBA loan programs.
    • Serve as backup for SBA Administrator
    • Prepare the required SBA documents that accompany the loan request as needed.
    • Work with RM on problem loans to gather documentation required to submit to the SBA, including preparing the Guarantee Purchase Requests if/when needed.
    • Maintain training log for SBA to confirm that bank employees are participating in the required amount of SBA training each year.
  • #4 ALLL Analysis / Reporting
    • Work with Credit Administration Specialist II to complete aspects of Allowance for Loan Losses (ALLL) and groom to serve as backup in preparation of CECL and ALLL reporting.
Education, Training and Skills Required
  • Limited training normally acquired through high school education
  • Specialized education/training normally acquired through up to 18 months of higher education
  • Education/training equivalent to an Associates’ Degree
  • Education/training equivalent to a Bachelors’ Degree
  • Education/training equivalent to a Masters’ Degree
  • Advanced education/training in a recognized field of specialization, e.g. CPA, MBA
