The Immunizations Branch of the Kentucky Department for Public Health is looking for an Immunizations Field Representative. The Immunization Field Representative works to provide support and education to vaccine providers across the Commonwealth. The position works with both the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program and the Adult Vaccine Program to conduct program compliance visits. Field Representatives also work with the Branch on various initiatives to provide education, guidance, and support to providers, as well as working to increase vaccination rates.
This position is based in the southeastern area of the state. The counties assigned to this position include Powell, Estill, Lee, Wolfe, Breathitt, Owsley, Jackson, Clay, Perry, Leslie, Knott, Floyd, Pike, and Letcher counties. The regional counties may shift slightly as needed, based on the regional needs. The candidate will need to be physically located within the assigned counties.
This is a federally funded time limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee.
An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
- Conduct Compliance and Technical Assistance visits at enrolled provider locations of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program and Adult Vaccine Program.
- Collect and analyze data from provider office visits and use this information to develop comprehensive site visit reports for the Field Staff Supervisor, Program Manager, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Submit all data and analysis pursuant to CDC guidelines.
- Provide training, instruction, and assistance to all enrolled providers for the VFC and Adult Program including best practices for vaccine Cold Chain and Inventory management.
- Coordinate and conduct Immunization Quality Improvement for Provides (IQIP) visits to aid providers with workflow assistance and education to promote immunizations and increase coverage rates across the Commonwealth.
- Manage the annual education requirement of the VFC and Adult Program providers.
- Interprets federal and state regulations to develop policies and procedures for VFC and Adult vaccine providers and Immunization Program staff.
- Assist in developing initiative and sub-programs to benefit the health of the Commonwealth's population through expanded vaccination coverage.
- Compile analysis on regional vaccine coverage assessment and share with constituents as applicable.
- Coordinate timelines for new program activities and requirements.
- Review proposed legislation, outbreak data, disaster data, and other possible external factors to determine impact on the Immunization Branch and the citizens of the Commonwealth.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

SKILLS:
Four years of professional experience in a health care facility, a community-based health care program, an institutional health care program, any health program administration, pharmacy technician, social work, public health, population health, emergency management services, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for
EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in public health, or a health-related field (such as human services, psychology, nursing, health administration, substance abuse, special education, rehabilitation, social work, sociology, or related field) will substitute for two years of the required experience.
