Additional InformationWe are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our educational team. Working under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist, the Speech Language Pathologist will provide essential speech and language therapy services to students with speech or language delays and disorders. The role involves conducting assessments, developing and implementing individualized programs, and collaborating with school staff to create supportive strategies for student success.
The majority of work will focus on students in the Early Education and, with additional responsibilities supporting students from Grades 1-12.
- Conduct assessments and develop personalized speech/language therapy programs for students.
- Deliver direct therapy services to students with speech or language delays and disorders.
- Work closely with school teams, teachers, and administrators to integrate support strategies.
- Provide consultation and guidance to school staff on appropriate interventions and accommodations.
- Adapt learning activities to support the individual needs of students.
- Travel to various schools within the WRPS school jurisdiction to provide services as needed.
- Degree in Speech Language Pathology from a recognized university.
- Knowledge of classroom interventions, child development, and early childhood education.
- Understanding of medical, physical, sensory, behavioral, and emotional challenges in students.
- Previous school system experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with children and youth
- Demonstrated ability to provide a range of services pertaining to speech therapy, such as: prevention, assessment and consultation
- Ability to adapt and modify tasks to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Flexibility to work in multiple school settings.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an educational team.
- Strong communication skills and experience working with teachers, administrators, and external agencies.
- Familiarity with Google apps and other digital tools.
- Commitment to the Board’s Health and Safety Program.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (an asset).
