Job Title: Welder Location: Cairo, IL Type: Full-Time – Hourly Schedule: 8 days on, 4 days off; 8 nights on, 4 days off (12‑hour shifts)

About the Role

Join American Commercial Barge Line as a Welder in Cairo, IL. We’re looking for a skilled welder to repair and maintain our fleet of barges and vessels. Tasks include welding and fitting patches on floating equipment, performing above and below water repairs, and contributing to the smooth operation of our inland waterways.

Essential Duties & Functions
  • Perform repairs of barges and equipment, including welding and fiberglass repair.
  • Clean workspace and prepare equipment and materials for repairs.
  • Serve as a mentor for new team members and assist with their training and development.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must live within 50 miles (1 hour) of the ACBL Cairo Fleet.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have the ability to acquire a driver’s license.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of navigation and safety procedures.
  • Positive attitude and adaptability to a unique work schedule.
  • Must be able to acquire a TWIC.
  • Stick weld proficiency required.
  • Ability to read repair orders and prioritize repairs desired.
  • Must be able to pass ACBL Physical Demands Test and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience welding in a shipyard or industrial environment.
