Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an ICU position requiring a minimum of several travel contracts, advanced critical care skills, and night shift availability with every other weekend and holiday rotation.
Responsibilities- 13-bed ICU with overflow capacity in an acute care hospital setting
- Critically ill patient population requiring management of multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma
- Administers all critical care drips including cardiac drips
- Proficiency with central line care, chest tubes, wound vacs, and mechanical ventilators required
- Advanced life support technology including ventilator management, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO
- Hemodynamic monitoring performed routinely
- Support staff includes PCA (sometimes) and HUC
- Epic EHR used (training preferred)
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Dysrhythmia exam required on first day (two attempts allowed; study guides provided)
- Conducts and analyzes ongoing patient assessments, creates and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
- Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and for patients' families or caregivers
- Anticipates and responds to rapidly changing patient conditions using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice
- Advocates for patient safety and participates in ongoing quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams including spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics as needed
- Nursing practice aligned with the BSMH Nursing Professional Practice Model using the AACN Synergy Model
- A secondary interview with the manager will follow the clinical pre-screen
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Active KY or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Minimum 4 years of ICU/critical care RN experience preferred (candidates with less experience may be considered)
- Multiple travel nursing contracts required (2 years of travel experience preferred)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
- Proof of address required (acceptable documents include driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, Military Form No. 2058, or W2 from U.S. government)
- Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
- 1 supervisory reference required
- Copy of certifications required
- Nursys license verification required
