Staff Development Nurse / Infection Control Nurse
Location: River Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation, Paducah KY
Position SummaryRiver Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Development Nurse / Infection Control Nurse to join our team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring staff competency, regulatory compliance, employee health management, and the oversight of the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program. The ideal candidate is organized, knowledgeable, and passionate about promoting excellence in resident care through education and infection prevention initiatives.
EssentialResponsibilities Staff Development & Education
Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation for nursing staff and other clinical personnel.
Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing staff education and training programs.
Schedule, complete, and document annual competencies and skills validations.
Identify learning needs and provide in-service education to ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility requirements.
Maintain accurate education and competency records for all staff.
Assist with onboarding and mentoring of newly hired employees.
Collaborate with department leaders to promote professional growth and clinical excellence.
Maintain confidential employee health records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Monitor and document employee immunizations, TB testing, physical examinations, and other required health screenings.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and workplace safety standards.
Coordinate follow-up and return-to-work processes as needed.
Develop, implement, and manage the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program.
Conduct surveillance, tracking, trending, and reporting of infections among residents and staff.
Investigate and respond to infection control concerns, outbreaks, and exposure incidents.
Educate staff on infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, state, and local infection control regulations and guidelines.
Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities related to infection prevention.
Prepare reports and maintain documentation for surveys and regulatory reviews.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing.
Experience in staff development, education, or infection prevention preferred.
Infection Preventionist certification (IP-BC, LTC-CIP, or willingness to obtain) preferred.
Knowledge of CMS, OSHA, CDC, and state regulatory requirements.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
