Seasonal Natural Resources Technician
Natural Resources Technician - Seasonal (Non-Exempt)
Rate: $15.00 per hour
Pay Grade: SEA | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.
Location: Concord Woods Nature Park, Concord Twp., OH 44077
Position
Description:
Under the direction of the Natural Resources Superintendent, the Natural Resources Technician supports the Park District by managing, assessing, and inventorying natural resources and natural areas. Responsibilities include equipment operation, invasive species management, vegetation control, habitat maintenance, and GIS data tasks.
- Operate equipment and machinery used in natural resource management (e.g., brush cutters, mowing equipment, tractors, offroad vehicles).
- Assist with invasive species control, tree planting and removal, vegetation management, and habitat maintenance.
- Support Natural Resources Department with park improvement and maintenance projects.
- Use GIS hardware and software to collect, manage, analyze, and edit spatial data.
- Apply herbicides safely according to approved procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education or experience in a natural resource field (biology, conservation, natural resource management, wildlife management) preferred.
- Experience operating tractors and towing/hauling equipment preferred.
Basic identification skills for flora, fauna, and invasive plant species. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office; GIS experience preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to safely mix and apply herbicides.
- Ability to safely operate equipment and machinery.
- Strong initiative, organizational skills, and professional communication.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Variable work schedule up to 40 hours/week; may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Valid driver's license and insurability under the agency's liability policy.
- Background check required.
