What We Need
We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of part‑time permanent Naturalist within the Division of Parks & Watercraft
, headquartered at Hueston Woods State Park in Preble County

Please note that this is a part‑time position and is budgeted for approximately 1450 hours/fiscal year.
Responsibilities- Develop, plan & conduct interpretive & recreational programs for the general public & special interest groups;
- Lead visitors on excursions into the park & other ODNR properties;
- Plan & coordinate special events (e.g., workshops, community festivals);
- Coordinate volunteers related to educational programs;
- Perform public relations & marketing activities;
- Starting hourly pay of $22.96/hr. with multiple pay increases over your first 5.5 years of service, with an end salary of $27.92/hr there may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. Working Conditions
Works outside exposed to weather, poisonous reptiles or infectious animal bites, & scratches & unpleasant odors.
Qualifications18 months training or 18 months experience in preparing &/or presenting educational materials concerning wildlife & plants; 1 course or 3 months experience in public relations; valid driver’s license.
- Or completion of associate degree core coursework in natural sciences (e.g., biology, botany, zoology); valid driver’s license.
- Or 12 months experience as Naturalist Aide, 22540; valid driver’s license.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
