Position OverviewThe Kitchen Aide supports the camp’s kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, cleaning, and organization to ensure a positive and welcoming dining experience for campers and staff following standards set by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO), the American Camp Association (ACA), and state health regulations. Reporting to the Assistant Cook and Head Cook, the Kitchen Aide plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.
This position includes preparing ingredients, assisting in meal service, and completing daily cleaning tasks to meet state and local health regulations. In addition to supporting meal preparation, the Kitchen Aide helps organize supplies, maintain sanitation standards, and respond to the needs of campers and staff during mealtimes.
- Assist the Head Cook and Assistant Cook with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup, ensuring an organized, efficient kitchen environment; responsibilities include dishwashing, food prep and storage, and maintaining kitchen order.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen space that meets state laws, GSUSA, GSNEO, and ACA standards.
- Mop the kitchen floor daily and clean the dining area thoroughly at least once a week, upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Organize and store food deliveries in designated areas, keeping storage spaces neat and accessible.
- Wash dishcloths and towels daily to ensure the kitchen remains well‑stocked with clean supplies.
- Accurately fill all pack‑out meal orders after receiving supervisor approval, ensuring timely preparation for campers’ off‑site meals.
- Follow and enforce recommended health and safety guidelines, including frequent handwashing and regular sanitizing, to maintain a healthy kitchen and dining environment.
- Report any incidents or accidents to the Head Cook, Assistant Cook, or Camp Director immediately to support a safe and responsive environment.
- Complete and submit any necessary records or reports to the supervisor promptly and accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of camp programs and kitchen goals.
- Ability to follow directions and carry out responsibilities with accuracy and reliability.
- Willingness to accept supervision and respond positively to feedback.
- Ability to quickly learn and perform assigned tasks.
- Membership in GSUSA.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, using tact and professionalism.
- Strong personal discipline with the ability to meet deadlines and follow established procedures.
- Self‑motivated and able to take initiative in daily tasks.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate respectfully and constructively.
- Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred.
- Ability to meet scheduling requirements, including flexibility in workdays and hours.
