Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. The driver ensures products arrive on time and in good condition and serves as the company’s face, building lasting relationships with customers.
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe driver is responsible for operating tractor‑trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, delivering and unloading food‑related products safely and in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Perform all required safety checks and DOT inspections.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.
- Inspect trailers for proper loading and securing of freight.
- Count items, verify invoices, and complete accurate paperwork.
- Load and unload freight, secure trailer doors, and transport goods to customers.
- Drive to scheduled deliveries, verify delivery, obtain signatures.
- Collect payments when required.
- Handle customer returns and damaged goods, including necessary paperwork.
- Maintain cleanliness of truck, loading dock, and trailers.
- Record hours of service per Federal DOT and company requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 6 months of commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL‑A license.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years.
- Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test.
- Have or obtain a current DOT Health Card.
- Able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate, or similar equipment for product handling (10‑35 lbs, up to 90 lbs).
