Ingram Barge Company is searching for our next Warehouse Specialist in Paducah, KY. This person will responsible for performing routine warehouse related duties and special assignments under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Manager or his designee. The Warehouse Specialist is also responsible for assisting the Manager Warehouse in the overall safe and efficient operation of the warehouse
What you will be doing:- Adheres to all Ingram and other regulatory policies.
- Actively participating in pre-shift meetings and safety huddles.
- Properly completing all equipment inspection checklist(s) and presents to Warehouse Manager or his designee for review.
- Implementing Lean and Sigma Six principles as assigned
- Keepingwork area(s) safe, clean and orderly.
- Reviewingvessel traffic reports daily
- Reviewing and analyzingvessel orders, travel speed, navigation disruptions and determine impact on distribution
- Analyzingshipping volumes to each location each day and determine most efficient and cost-effective means of shipping and best suited carrier
- Working with vessels to determine most effective shipping locations and timingsbased on material to ship, locations, and various other factors, design a daily shipping strategy
- Ensuring that all items are received into the warehouse from delivery vehicles and other conveyances in a safe manner.
- Reviewing all received shipments for accuracy
- Identifying discrepancies to quantities and any damage to received items and conspicuously note on delivery paperwork prior to signing and reported to direct Manager.
- Puttingaway received items into designated areas.
- Consolidatingitems into the best configuration for shipment.
- Ensuring that all labels, placards, and shipping papers are properly prepared and attached to shipments or conveyed to shipper
- Preparingitems for shipping by packing securely, stretch wrapping, banding, etc.
- Loadingshipments with forklift or by hand as appropriate.
- Reviewingreturns by separating junk from items that may be returned for vendor credit
- Preparingitems to be returned for credit for pickup by vendor.
- Properly disposes of non-returnable items in accordance with Ingram and governmental regulations
- Reporting any unsafe condition or activity to management.
- Supportingdepartment activities with regular and prompt attendance
- Fulfilling warehouse Pos and Inventory pick requests
- Conducting inventory cycle counts and reporting
- Organizingmaterials and supplies in logical and efficient staging areas
- Managingspecial distribution needs as required
- Maintaining a working knowledge of stocked products, active vessels, locations and vendors
- Working with Engineering to coordinate shipyard vessel supply needs
- Cleaning and maintain warehouse
- Working over-time, call out as needed after hours and weekends
Skills:
- Understands and abides by all applicable Ingram and governmental regulations pertaining to associate safety and warehouse operation
- Must be trained in safe forklift operation
- Understand river traffic patterns nad location points
- Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and Internal Customers
- Must be able to walk up and down steep grades
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
- Some travel required
- Weekend work and overtime are required as needed
- Working and standing on concrete surfaces for extended periods required
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
