Overview
Work Hard I Play Hard I Bank The Bucks
We’re a dynamic company with rock solid team dedicated to helping families and their friends simply, safely, and sustainably enjoy summer vacations in the world’s most breathtaking houseboating destination, Lake Powell.
Doing Well By Doing Good And Having A Great Time Doing It
We work really hard and play really hard while piloting houseboats and using our innovative, no-trace, Beach Bags Systems to anchor private and rental houseboats along the emerald waters of Powell’s sandstone shorelines.
The scenery is breathtaking. The on-lake work is quite physical, challenging, fun, and financially rewarding. And the opportunity to explore, adventure and play on the water, in the canyons, and throughout the spectacular Colorado Plateau on your days off is endless.
Our Houseboat Captains drive many of the world’s most beautiful houseboats from their in-marina slips to on-lake anchoring destinations and back again. They also captain a fleet of workboats and manage 4-5 person Anchoring Crews.
Our most successful team members are those who are in good shape, enjoy hard work, and most importantly, those with grit to persevere in the face of a good challenge. Our teams typically include men and women from all different types of backgrounds and experiences including US Coast Guard Licensed 100/200 Ton Captains, serial seasonal workers, college students on summer break, new grads, ROTC and ex-military, as well as cowboys, construction workers and outdoor enthusiasts.
A Lot Of Work, A Lot Of Reward
There is no denying that our work is physically demanding. In addition to captaining boats, our USGC Certified Captains actively manage and, at times, assist our Anchoring Crews during the houseboat anchoring process. Anchoring Crew activities involve heavy lifting in the heat team members put anchors in place, fill them up, drain them, and retrieve them. Setting or striking anchoring sites takes about 30 – 60 minutes and definitely gets the heart pumping.
Afterwards, it’s a quick jump in the lake to cool off, grab a snack, and joke with teammates as the team cruises off in a workboat to enjoy their next anchoring adventure. It’s an anchor, rinse and repeat you’ll do 5-8 times per workday.
Our Houseboat Captains typically work 4-5 days per week – receiving 2-3 days off. Over the course of the summer, you’ll drive and assist in anchoring hundreds of houseboats.
Days and Days To Play
We believe your summer job should be adventurous, exciting, and fun. Houseboat Captains should plan to have 2-3 scheduled days off per week. How else are you going to enjoy all the fun that comes along with working at Lake Powell? And don’t worry about planning all your adventures, we’ll take care of some of that too. You can expect group surfing trips, lake explorations, and hikes in some of the area’s most beautiful canyons.
If you love the outdoors, there is no better place to be! The Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park are a few hours away and great mountain biking, world famous Antelope Canyon, and a beautiful golf course are available in and around town.
Tips – The Extras Are Oh, So Good
Our customers love, love, love houseboating on Lake Powell. It’s their favorite place to be. Lake-life attitudes abound and tips for a job well done freely flow to our hard working and attentive team members. It’s not uncommon for them to each make thousands in tips per season.
