The Community Center Aide supports and enhances the guest experience at the Page Community Center by greeting, directing, and assisting the public while being cross‑trained in all aspects of the center to assist other staff in fulfilling their daily required duties, as needed. This position regularly assists all center staff with preparing and serving daily meals, the meals‑on‑wheels program, and the daily and constant cleaning and/or sanitizing of the dining room, kitchen, and bathrooms as directed by the Manager.
Aids and assists those customers with special needs and senior citizens, as required. Assists with Community Center activities, social programs, field trips, gardening, as well as the coordination and planning of City special events. Acts as the facility’s receptionist. Handles the Community Center’s daily paperwork, files, and performs data entry. This position reports directly to the Community Center Manager.
- Works well with other staff, volunteers, and clients to establish and maintain a clean, proficient, organized environment that excels in customer service.
- Welcomes the public and encourages them to participate in the center's activities, events, and meal services.
- Maintains proper paperwork and follows exact guidelines in accordance with the meal program, as directed by the Manager.
- Assists with all Center programs, activities, and events, under the direction of the Manager, including daily food prep, meal service, Meals‑On‑Wheels, and cleanup.
- Observes clients upon delivery of meals to ensure they are safe and reports any concerns immediately.
- Assists with preparing, cooking and seasoning meals according to menu and dietary requirements.
- Assists with kitchen sanitation.
- Assists with serving patrons meals at the center.
- Assists with the weekly storing, moving, and delivery of 30‑pound food boxes.
- Assists Community Center Manager with planning and facilitating City Special Events.
- Accurately processes and balances payments and the daily funds deposits to the city.
- Assists with scheduling and coordinating rental facilities under management by the center.
- Demonstrates good working knowledge of the center's safety standards and practices.
- Daily cleans and sanitizes work areas, restrooms, equipment, walls, doors, cabinets, storage, and other areas in accordance with the established procedures and guidelines.
- Research designated monthly health awareness campaigns to post information on the topic.
- Cleans a specific area of the center daily, which is assigned by the manager.
- Maintains list of patron's birthdays to ensure they are recognized.
- Attends schooling and/or training seminars, as directed or needed to maintain certificates.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 1st Aid/CPR/AED Certification
- Food Handler’s Certificate
- Fire Extinguisher Training
- Driver’s License
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to exhibit excellent customer service skills.
- Skill in personal computers, including word processing, database, spreadsheets, copy machine and fax machine.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone with a diverse range of people.
- Ability to communicate well with and perform duties cooperatively with a wide variety of personalities.
- Knowledge of cash handling and cash reconciling skills.
- Skills and knowledge in organization, time management, customer service, event planning, and networking.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to follow standard office environment safety requirements.
- Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding departmental documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Ability to have command of business English, spelling and mathematics.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The following physical abilities are required: feeling, fingering, handling, hearing, sitting, speaking, standing, walking and visual acuity.
