Position: Public Safety Support Specialist

Reports to: EMS and/or Fire Program Director

Employment Type: Part Time Support Staff

Work Schedule: Hours and days may vary; weekends may be required

Summary

Provides non-instructional support to programs within Adult Workforce Education at Auburn Career Center.

Essential Functions

Provide non-instructional support to all Public Safety programs, training offerings, and facility/training grounds use by outside entities as directed by the EMS Program Director, Fire Program Director, or their designee.

  • Operate essential equipment and instructional props
  • Transport and deliver essential equipment/materials
  • Complete paperwork for all programs, training and facility/training grounds as needed
  • Coordinate student clinical participation
  • Work with instructors to contact students who have make‑up work to complete
  • Work with Adult office to contact students who need to submit paperwork or resolve financial matters
  • Participate as needed in accreditation preparations and site visit(s)
  • Proctor physical agility testing
  • Other duties as assigned by the EMS Program Director, Fire Program Director or their designee
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in public safety training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all types of tools and equipment used in Public Safety programs/training
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and, if needed, appropriate CDL and ability to meet Auburn Career
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of regular work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels internal and external to Auburn
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
