PAY RATE:$31.20/hr

Key Responsibilities- Provide classroom and lab instruction on an as-needed basis, following established curriculum and lesson plans.
- Support student learning in HVAC subject areas.
- Supervise students in classroom and lab environments to ensure a safe, productive, and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records when serving as the instructor of record.
- Collaborate with program staff and maintain communication with the Program Coordinator regarding student learning needs and program continuity.
- Uphold school policies, program standards, and the student code of conduct while promoting a positive image of Auburn Career Center.
- Assist in maintaining instructional areas, equipment, and supplies in safe and proper condition; adapt instructional approaches to meet diverse student learning styles and ensure continued progress in the absence of the regular instructor.
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and strong interpersonal skills while serving as a positive role model for students.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administration.
- Required to have Section 608 Technician Certification Credentials.
- High School Diploma required.
- Maintain a valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Adult Education Permit or equivalent.
- Must comply with Ohio Revised Code
-Criminal Records Check. - Must pass a drug screen at the time of hire and comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
Skills and Abilities
The following are essential for successfully performing assigned duties:
- Core 608 Topics:
Environmental Impacts, Clean Air Act and Montreal Protocol, Section 608 Regulations, Substitute Refrigerants and oils, Refrigeration, Three R Definitions, Recovery Techniques, Dehydration Evacuation, Safety, Shipping. - Principles, methods, and practices of heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, including installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Safe operation of HVAC tools, machinery, and diagnostic instruments.
- Classroom and laboratory safety protocols, OSHA standards, and best practices for student supervision in a shop environment.
- Curriculum design and instructional strategies appropriate for high school/CTE students, including integration of industry standards and certifications.
- Operating and demonstrating the use of HVAC equipment, tools, gauges, and testing instruments.
- Diagnosing and repairing HVAC system issues while modeling safe work practices for students.
- Effective communication, both oral and written, to convey technical information to diverse learners.
- Recordkeeping, assessment, and maintaining accurate student performance data.
- Building relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners to support program development and work‑based learning.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, crawl, and climb as necessary to demonstrate and supervise HVAC tasks in a lab or shop setting.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and assist students with similar tasks when needed.
- Enforce safety rules consistently while monitoring multiple students working with tools and equipment simultaneously.
- Adapt teaching methods and demonstrations to meet varied learning styles and ability levels.
- Maintain focus and situational awareness in a noisy, active lab environment while ensuring student safety.
- Model professionalism, punctuality, and workplace ethics aligned with industry expectations.
Working Conditions:
- The work environment combines traditional classroom instruction with hands‑on laboratory/shop activities. The instructor is routinely exposed to:
- Loud noises from compressors, motors, power tools, and ventilation systems.
- Moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, refrigerants, and cleaning/maintenance chemicals.
- Temperature variations when working near hot equipment, outdoor projects, or refrigerated spaces.
