School Psychologist
Evaluates needs of average, gifted, and disabled children within educational system or school, and plans and carries out programs to enable children to attain maximum achievement and adjustment by performing the following duties.
Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems.
Help others understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior.
Evaluation:
Evaluate eligibility for special services. Conduct assessment of cognitive abilities, achievement, social and emotional functioning, mental health and developmental status.
Provide psychological counseling to help resolve interpersonal or family problems that interfere with school performance.
Work directly with children and their families to help resolve problems in adjustment and learning.
Provide training in social skills and behavior management.
Crisis intervention services that help families and schools manage crises such as death, illness, or community trauma.
Consult with teachers, parents, and agency administrators concerning children's behavior and academic and social problems.
Consult with physicians and other professionals concerning the school functioning and learning of children with disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disorders, chronic illness, physical or genetic conditions, and substance abuse.
Consult with educators and other professionals regarding cognitive, affective, social and behavioral performance.
Coordinate educational, psychological and behavioral health services by working at the interface of these systems.
Promote tolerance, understanding, and appreciation of diversity within the school community.
Develop programs to make schools safer and more effective learning environments.
Use evidence-based research to develop and/or recommend effective interventions.
Demonstrate knowledge of effective instructional processes, understands classroom and school environments, and understands the organization and operation of schools and agencies.
Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as required by law and regulation or requested by supervisors.
Observe rigorously the code of ethics of the psychological profession to maintain the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and other agencies associated with the school.
Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
Fulfill any other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Certification:
At a minimum must hold a valid or obtain an appropriate Ohio Department of Education license.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies.
Math Ability:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer
Skills:
To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of internet browser use for research, and ability to use virtual meeting tools. Ability to operate a copier and personal computer, and input grades into a database.
